Working with a Menopause Coach

Updated: 5 days ago

Menopause Coach Jane Mackay

For many women, the menopause transition is overwhelming and challenging.

Physical changes, the emotional rollercoaster…and the exhausting, continuous search for relief and solutions.

Finding the right menopause support is crucial.

This is where working with a Menopause Coach can help.

Let's take a look at the unique benefits of menopause coaching from professional guidance to personalised menopause care strategies, and why it's a trusted form of menopause wellness support.

What is a Menopause Coach?

A Menopause Coach (also known as a wellness coach or health coach) uses their expertise to guide clients through the menopause transition, helping them make lifestyle and health changes that improve menopause symptoms, confidence and future wellbeing.

I offer personalised guidance on nutrition, exercise, mindset, stress management and also medical options such as hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

As a coach, I provide a safe, supportive space for you to explore the challenges you're facing and where clients feel seen, heard and empowered to take back control.

Menopause is personal. There is no one-size-fits-all.

That’s why menopause care must be personal. Your menopause journey is unique, and so is my approach.

Why is a Menopause Coach important?

There are 13 million women in the UK in perimenopause or menopause yet there is such a disconnect between our healthcare needs and the care we receive from our broken National Health Service.

A study by the Newson Health Menopause Clinic of 6,000 women found that almost a third of women had between two and five medical appointments before their symptoms were diagnosed as linked to the perimenopause and menopause and that 1 in 10 were forced to sit through between six and ten appointments before getting their diagnosis.

Two in five women were offered antidepressants.

Despite the significant impact of the hormonal changes on our physical and emotional wellbeing, many women find themselves navigating the menopause alone.

This highlights the need for specialist menopause wellness support beyond overburdened healthcare professionals.

A Menopause Coach offers targeted, evidence-informed guidance that bridges the gap.

As a health coach, I stay up to date with the latest menopause research and collaborate with trusted health professionals to ensure my clients receive the best possible menopause care.

How Menopause Coaching works

Working with a Menopause Coach encompasses the physical, emotional, and mental aspects of menopause.

I understand that symptoms like brain fog, weight gain, mood changes, and fatigue don’t exist in isolation. They’re interlinked with sleep, anxiety, hormone changes and more.

That’s why my menopause wellness coaching addresses you as a whole person—not just a list of symptoms.

I’ve put together a few examples below to help you better understand how menopause coaching could work for you.

Fitness, Nutrition and Emotional Wellbeing

My clients often come to me struggling with motivation around fitness and healthy eating.

We work together on simple but effective strategies to integrate regular exercise and nourishing nutrition into their daily lives.

We look at menopause-friendly foods, gentle movement for bone health and smarter ways to support energy and gut health without restriction.

It’s not about perfection—it’s about progress. And consistent, supported progress is what transforms menopause wellness.

Support and Accountability

One of the defining features of Menopause Coaching is support.

Menopausal women often face an overwhelming number of symptoms that can leave them feeling isolated and misunderstood.

Having a knowledgeable ally by your side will give you a sense of reassurance and comfort.

I support my clients with expert guidance around nutrition, exercise, stress, sleep, self-care and treatments such as hormone replacement therapy where appropriate.

I also help you work through NHS options or consult with other health professionals, including those aligned with the British Menopause Society.

Crucially, I provide compassionate accountability. Many of my clients say they finally feel seen...and that’s the first step in reclaiming your wellbeing.

Take Caroline who felt validated and heard.

She says, “Your knowledge and compassion shine through and made me feel at ease and open to your suggestions. I definitely felt you had considered me and your suggestions are achievable and therefore very helpful

Because she felt supported, Caroline took action.

And that’s what makes menopause wellness coaching so powerful.

Want the same support? My Quick Menopause Action Plan is a brilliant place to start.

It’s a low-cost, high-impact session that can help you make sense of your symptoms and start creating a future plan.

Setting Goals and Boundaries

Another important part of menopause care is helping you set clear, realistic goals.

Together, we’ll identify what matters to you and break your vision into achievable steps.

We also work on creating healthy boundaries (at home, at work, and socially) so you can focus on your wellbeing without guilt or burnout.

This process has helped so many of my clients gain clarity, confidence and momentum in their menopause journey.

Empowerment

A big part of my coaching is helping clients advocate for themselves, especially within the NHS and with other healthcare professionals.

It's not merely about wanting to get healthy; it's about having the right support and guidance to take the necessary steps to make it happen.

An important aspect of this is showing you how to advocate for yourself in our healthcare system, whether you are seeking to use Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) or not.

I help you prepare for doctor appointments and understand your rights through the NHS shared decision-making policy.

It's a collaborative process through which healthcare clinicians support you to reach a decision about your treatment with a combination of the clinician’s expertise (such as treatment options, evidence, risks and benefits) and what YOU know best: your preferences, personal circumstances, goals, values and beliefs.

You deserve informed, personalised menopause care.

And having a coach in your corner can make that process much easier and less intimidating.

Why I do this work

I believe all women deserve access to meaningful, evidence-informed menopause support.

Many of my clients were dismissed or unsupported by the system. Whether they came to me via their GP, other health professionals or simply through word of mouth, they were all looking for the same thing: expert, accessible, compassionate menopause care.

And that’s what I offer.
